VOLUNTEERING WITH THE MERCY COALITION

Big hearts. Big impact.

Since 2010, the Mercy Coalition has been built, fueled and driven by hundreds upon hundreds of dedicated West Sacramento volunteers. They are the heartbeat of this beautiful thing, and they come from every background, every race, every gender, every faith tradition, every political stripe, every orientation and every unique skill set. Their unity in love and service is the distinctive that defines the Mercy Coalition more than any other.

We welcome you to become a part of this mosaic of generous community!

Guidelines for Mercy Coalition volunteers:

  1. We value all people. We will not discriminate in any way based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, class, age, ability, religion or language.

  2. We have our origins as an interfaith coalition. We will work in earnest fellowship with those of different faiths and look to show respect and humility before people of different beliefs.

  3. Though we are a people of faith, we will never require religious participation from those who may wish to access our services. Our love and provision for them comes without strings. We refrain from open proselytizing.

  4. We die to our selfies. We do not diminish the worth of those we serve by turning them into photo ops. We make sure it remains all about them.

  5. We endeavor to bring our positivity, our patience, our team mentality, and our adaptability to our work.

  6. We carry a heartfelt belief in 360-degree serving. In caring for those experiencing homelessness or poverty, we are also looking to be a friend and benefit to community members, law enforcement, government workers, businesses, other nonprofits, and one another.
