VOLUNTEERING WITH THE MERCY COALITION
Big hearts. Big impact.
Since 2010, the Mercy Coalition has been built, fueled and driven by hundreds upon hundreds of dedicated West Sacramento volunteers. They are the heartbeat of this beautiful thing, and they come from every background, every race, every gender, every faith tradition, every political stripe, every orientation and every unique skill set. Their unity in love and service is the very thing that defines the Mercy Coalition more than any other.
We welcome you to become a part of this mosaic of generous community!
Guidelines for Mercy Coalition volunteers:
We value all people. We will not discriminate in any way based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, class, age, ability, religion or language.
Although we have our origins as an interfaith collaborative, we are not religiously affiliated and would never require religious participation from volunteers or those who may wish to access our services. Our love and provision for our people comes without strings. We welcome people of all faiths but prohibit proselytizing.
Selfies are strictly prohibited. We do not diminish the worth of those we serve by turning them into photo ops. We make sure it remains all about them.
We endeavor to bring our positivity, our patience, our team mentality, and our adaptability to our work.
We carry a heartfelt belief in 360-degree serving. In caring for those experiencing homelessness or poverty, we are also looking to be a friend and benefit to community members, law enforcement, government workers, businesses, other nonprofits, and one another.
